Came home yesterday to a tropical Paradise, well at least as far as the temperature was concerned, 25 degrees, !! The boiler was constantly on!
Plumber came out today, turns out our thermostat ( ours is a standalone programmable one) is bu##ered, for a viessmann original type is£379
Honeywell do one for £237, ouch !! Hopefully all should be fixed tomorrow,
Oh dear Primus. Must be the week for boiler break downs, as mine went on Monday too. Mine was the opposite though and the house was stone cold.
Good luck with the repairs.

Was a time when you had a thermostat on the wall in the hall, and a clock somewhere discreet that you could set the times for your heating to come on and go off.
Mine worked perfectly for over forty years.
After having a new condensing boiler fitted last August, and being supplied with a state of the art programmable transmitter and receiver that cost more than some cars I have bought in the past. It broke down and had to be replaced after only three months. Fortunately, it was still under guarantee this time, but I might be going back to those good old days if it breaks down again.

Looking at getting a new combi four our 4 bedroomed hovel, any advice and figures would be appreciated Baz
Horses for courses Rehab, the first thing you need is an honest plumber. Boiler replacements are a good job for them and high margin but we had quotes ranging from £1600 to £3500 for ours for the same thing...
The £1600 quote was from the local plumber who showed us the cost price of the boiler (with ten year guarantee) and added £500 for labour. Fair enough mate, job's yours..
