Shelf paper

Does anyone still use waxed paper in their kitchen cupboards?
I've always put paper in the cupboards, but it seems to have vanished from the shops.

Re: Shelf paper

My Mom always used it so I did too, until it was no longer readily available.

Re: Shelf paper

I remember that waxed paper. Odd little memory of my mother's pantry being lined with green gingham waxed paper. I don't use it, but do use paper for lining drawers for clothes etc. Usually buy a pretty wallpaper and find that works very well. But no, I've not seen the waxed paper - I'll see if I can find anything.

I found this:-

Waxed paper or wax paper is a specific type of paper, which has been coated with wax on both sides. For this reason, waxed paper coated in this way has a translucent appearance. Waxed paper has certain qualities and is resistant to some fluids. Because of these qualities, waxed paper is used for wrapping food, because water, oil and grease cannot pass through it. Waxed paper is commonly used to line food containers, as many types of food will not stick to it in the same way normal paper would. Dry foods of all different kinds used to be stored in waxed paper because of its resistance to moisture, but today waxed paper has been largely replaced by plastic wrap for most applications.
