Re: Cricket!!!!
LOVE cricket-not for the 'exitement' value, because as has been noted,it isn't a sport of intensity....but for the strategies, the tactics employed. Deciding whether to put spinners on,whether to go for deep extra cover or short stop, knowing your adversary [in this case the incoming batsman] and knowing his strengths,weaknesses,preferences,habits...and placing your field accordingly. Yes,I play a lot of chess [I can hear that question arriving] and yes,to me,watching the 'pieces' strategically placed, seeing the pace and amount of spin used when bowling to slow the score-rate,as opposed to a straight 'howzat',thus causing frustration and a pent-up desperation in the opposition to swing at anything in order to score....then JUST as he starts doing so,change the bowling tactics and fielding strategies, thus capturing three wickets in quick succession cheaply, before re-setting the field...yes,cricket is GOOD. Plus, nobody goes down rolling in agony claiming a foul because an opposing player brushed past him.
