Royal Ascot

Are any of you rich and famous people attending this year or has "austerity" hit the back pocket?
I normally take the week off but I am working the back shift and won't even get to watch any of it.

Pity you won't see it live on TV Peter, I love looking at it, never have much luck though, the wife always puts on a bet on the colour of the Queens gear, she's betting on blue today.

I dislike horse-racing wherever it is staged, it usually results in replacing my face TV prog Countdown on Channel 4.....unforgiveable

Just seen this on the Guardian Site:
Having interviewed assorted elderly women who are at Royal Ascot to see the Queen, Channel 4 presenter Alice Plunkett asks one young man sitting nearby if he has any tips for this afternoon’s racing. The scamp in question says: “After spending time in the company of these ladies, there’s only one horse I’m going to back: Cougar Mountain.” His gag sails over the head of Alice.

Well bang goes the wifes bet, the Queen was wearing yellow. I was a bit luckier, I had a fiver on Jennies Jewel @ 6/1, two other win fiver bets went down(Waady and Awtaad) so I’m up 20 quid for tomorrow. I had a very enjoyable days racing at Ascot, albeit sitting in the armchair with a can of Guinness in me hand and a cigar in me mouth, ain't life sweet sometimes.
The only thing that put me off was Claire Balding, can't stand that woman doing the racing, she's far too cocky for my liking.

I agree she is dreadful, talks down to the audience all the while.
