Gas Attack 1916

Ive been researching my Grand fathers Army records ,
He was a WW1 war Pensioner and he was gassed in the trenches .
So ive been looking on line for some insight of what the Soldiers went through

I found this a good read and you can feel what it was like from reading this .
It might interest others .

Wow - how interesting to have a first hand account - but also horrific!

That's interesting Eliza my Grandad was gassed in the trenches and his lungs were permanently affected.
He never talked about the war.

My grand dad died in 1939 so i never got to talk or see him , I know from his war records he was older than what he said , so he really wanted to do his bit for the country .
So many lives effected from both wars .

That's a fascinating read. I learnt things from that that I hadn't known about. Thanks, Liz.

It was a good read , thats why I thought i would share it on the forum.

I had no idea how they went to lengths to clear the gas out the trenches , and the Mask was a eye opener too . What a nightmare it must have been and no wonder when Soldiers returned home they didnt want to relive the memory by telling others .
But im glad some did for the history pages .
