I fell on the way to the shops..

...went arse over elbow on some wet leaves and grazed my knees, one quite badly.

I've cleaned them and put plasters on, but my question is, as a bit of a hypochondriac and someone with a lowered immune system, could I get sepsis? Would I know about it before it was too late to get treatment?

Thankfully, I'm seeing a nurse tomorrow anyway.

Sorry about your fall Fosse, hope your knees soon heal.

Here is an NHS article on Sepsis. Try not to worry about it though. Bathe your knees and keep them clean till the skin heals, but if there does look like any infection starting or you start a temperature, don't delay and go along to the pharmacy or nurse.

Not good Richard a fall really does shake you up doesn't it.

I have had a few bad falls one a couple of years ago when I fell outside and cut my face badly, I had to crawl home having hurt my knee then try to scrub the grit out of my wound.
I couldn't go out for two weeks my face was such a mess with two black eyes and blood blisters

If in doubt go to A&E, I avoid them at all costs. Hope you are better soon.

Oh no that's terrible you'll be sore in the morning I'll wager. I wouldn't worry about sepsis just keep it clean and see the nurse about it when you see her.

Thanks for your replies; I'm glad that it was just my knees, I seemed to fall then slip sideways.

And I was wearing cream jeans which were filthy as I finished my shopping, lol.

If it's grazing sudocreams pretty good, always have it handy in my hand bag for those scrapes kids get.

I should have thought to buy some of that and bigger plasters as I was in the chemist today. Don't feel like going back out, though.

Our pharmacy will deliver if you ring them up, they charge a fiver but it's worth that if you can't get there yourself. Might be worth seeing if yours has that facility.
