roses

I'm new to growing roses, so could do with some help/advice, please.

What's the difference between a climbing rose and a rambler?

I have a large trellis fence - which of the two types would be most suitable? I already have honeysuckle, jasmine and clematis planted along parts of it.

Re: roses

I think a climber has bigger flowers than a rambler

Re: roses

Rambling roses are more vigorous than climbers, the stems are more flexible so easier to train. Also ramblers only flower once unlike climbers.

Re: roses

Ramblers only bloom once and climbers repeat flower. They need different supports and pruning too.

Re: roses

Deb, I planted the climbing rose below a couple of years ago and it’s a little beauty.

The individual flowers are small but grow in clusters and the colour is a beautiful vibrant corally pinky red. Hard to describe but much deeper in colour than the photo in the link.

It’s still flowering now.
