You do have to weigh up costs against added value to our status, image and economy. The royal family don't exactly repel tourists. There is a huge economy built around this tourism. Lots of jobs and businesses built up around our reputation as a place to visit and part of that draw is the royal family.On top of that you have the diplomatic framework created by engaging personalities with a royal title. They are the PR team for the UK.

It is a fallacy put about by royal sycophants .France has a much bigger tourist industry than ours visiting all their palaces etc without a Royal Family .
i have never met a tourist yet who came to the Uk to see the RF.
The cost of upkeeping the royal family their security and the maintenance of their many palaces far outweighs any benefit they might bring to the tourist industry
