I made a wonderful biryani in the slow cooker the other day, yep you can cook rice in the slow cooker if you cook it a little on the stove top first. I also have taken on Greggs and have made a delish sausage, bean and cheese latticed pie. If I do say so myself my all butter short crust pastry is the best.

Well Cate darlin' - if you're going to lay down that sort of challenge then I need a sample to be able to judge.

Have taken a chicken breast out of the freezer and its now quietly defrosting. Later on, will make myself a chicken curry with it - something really 'hot' to sweat the last vestiges of this cold I have out of me.

A challenge is what you want is it Uncle Joe? Ok I shall be making mince pies on Friday. I will post one to you. On second thoughts I better not cos some have brandy in the mince and some have rum and I know you would never consider eating mince pies which might make you fail a breath test.

Cate darlin' - breath tests mean nothing to me, - I use public transport and have no qualms about consuming mince pies with added Rum or Brandy.

I have my veg prepared and sitting in a saucepan of water. Potato, carrot, leeks and cabbage. Intend par boiling first then chucking into a frying pan like a mixed up bubble. Then will get a small chicken pie out of the freezer.

Re: What are you having for lunch/dinner?

Oh dear Jazzi that is not good, not good at all, you see the majority of vitamins and minerals present in most veggies are water soluble. Thus the less time spent in water the better, unless of course the final dish is to be a stew, soup or casserole and thus the water is consumed. Otherwise the cooked veggie will have little or no nutritional value.
