How can you prevent porridge from sticking to the bottom of the pan?

I just soak and scrape it off around 8 hours later, it seems to have softened sufficiently by then but I wonder if there is a quicker method.

I make it in the microwave it doesn't stick to the bowl

Sadly, I don't have a microwave - it was never something I wanted despite its utility.

I use Instant Oatmeal in a bowl with hot water and microwave...

Raw oats are far cheaper. I'm not buying into a microwave at this point in my life having done perfectly well without one.

Cook on a lower heat and stir until it reaches the consistency you like. 2oz of porridge with 1/2 pint of liquid does for me.

Non stick pan, cook at a lower heat, use a silicon spatula to stir right across the bottom.

Thanks, perhaps I've been cooking it at too high a temperature.

The secret is to keep the temperature low...takes longer but much nicer and doesnt stick.
