Re: I had a little accident this morning... Ouch!

Oh, Twink l have only just seen this. I am so sorry as falling can be such a shock to the system.

I am relieved it was your left hand, as l remember the palaver you had when you slipped and broke your right wrist. It took ages to heal.

I hope you’ll be ok and that Mr Grey is giving you plenty of TLC!
At least, it wasn’t him you tripped over when he was looking for his fur brushing!!

Oh Twink sorry to hear that you've hurt yourself,it's so easily done, we're not as quick as we used to be, and it's a shock when it happens, hope you recover soon

Sorry to hear about your fall Twink, and hope it's not too painful. You might be a little bit stiff tomorrow since your body would have twisted and stretched where it probably hasn't done for quite some time. I'm sure with your medical knowledge you will know exactly the right things to do to speed along your recovery. Take care, and get some weed killer on that grass.....

I have a question based on doing something similarly a few years ago - hand to save myself, face hit, broken elbow, which I didn't realize until much later.

When I was younger, I always remember having some awareness in the moment, almost as if it was going in slow motion.

Now, I realize that when I fall, I have a sense of it being instantaneous. One second I'm walking along and everything is fin and then I am down. I don't have any awareness in between those two moments.

Was your awareness of your fall different then it used to be?
I can certainly relate to that Surfermom. I've always prided myself on knowing how to fall properly, like a stunt man, I've always been able to fall with a minimum of damage. I was running down the lane a few years ago and kicked a protruding stone. There was a dog walker coming in the opposite direction and watched in amazement as I tripped over, curled up into a forward roll, returned to my feet, and continued running without so much as an interruption of pace.

Fast forward to the last year or two, and twice I kicked a stone and hit the ground, the first thing I remember after kicking the stone, was laying on the ground with grit in my mouth and a stinging sensation in my knee and arm, and no idea how I got there. The next thing I did was to look around to see if anyone had seen it...

Re: I had a little accident this morning... Ouch!

It's always a bit tricky when you are carrying something, to fall well. Hope all is well now. OGF is right there are ways to fall to reduce damage. I have always been pleased that many years ago I was a judo enthusiast and learned to roll if possible with a fall. I have fallen, tripped and slipped many times since those years and I have never broken anything in a fall. Nothing more than grazes and bruises. I have broken various bones but not while falling. Just don't have a very good sense of self preservation.
