I'm just pondering on making a quirky, weird disc of my own to keep in the holder. Like " My other transport is dirigible" or "Steampunk? ...of course it makes sense!"

Apparently its to save the huge amount of expense it costs to implement the old paper system every year.

I doubt it is illegal either, however it was illegal not to remove an out of date sticker (in NSW) so I guess that will be true.
