New camera or just invest in battery?

I have an old digital point and click camera a Samsung pl211.

OH uses it and because it is fairly simple he can cope with it.

The problem is its starting to get really slow you point push and then wait for the ...............click !

If I recharge the battery it is only only marginally better.
It used to be quite and snappy little thing and now its like a slug.

So, is it worth me investing in a new battery or is it just worn out?

I do/did take a lot of photos (sometimes 100+ per week)

Id really appreciate some advice because getting OH another simple compact is going to be a job Im not looking forward to.

thanks

I doubt it's the battery. It should either work or not work.

Sounds more like the focus motor getting tired.

More than happy to help in camera recommendations if you give me a price to work to. I buy a lot of cameras for teams at work.

Thanks I did wonder about wear..

Its not so much price thats the problem. Its the simplicity of the thing.
I dont want to sacrifice mp or zoom the pl211 has 14.2mp and 10x zoom most compacts Ive looked at have less but far more buttons and fiddeling bits..
Not a good idea for OH.

Re: New camera or just invest in battery?

Hi

My photographic skills are legendary Cass.

I have none, if you think OH is bad, he is probably far better than me.

I have a Fuji Finepix waterproof, son got it for me.

It is so simple to use, waterproof, doesn't mind being dropped and takes reasonable photos.

I have also been given a Sony Cybershot with GPS, 30x zoom, a few more buttons, but use it only in fully automatic.

That is fairly idiot proof as well.

It looks the part , people think you know what you are doing.

Personally I would go for a new camera. The quality of digital cameras has improved so much since the early ones and for those that don't like fiddling around too much, there's always a point and shoot mode where the camera does all the work for you.
