Yesterdays trip to the lake.

Hope these work.

Had a trip to the lake yesterday on a fairly mild and sunny day.

Now 5 Great crested grebes displaying.

Now very popular with photographers, i used to have the site to myself. Other species like Mute Swan, Mallard and Goldeneye put on a canny show.

Disturbed to see a Mallard caught in wire on the floating reedbed.

We called out a wildlife rescue oufit as neither the RSPB or the RSPCA wanted to know.

And this lady donned waders to rescue the bird.

It was not looking to good but she took it away to place it in am incubator, hope it survives.

I agree she was soaked through as the water came over her chest waders, magic that she would put herself out where proper organisations would not.

Great photos Nom, lovely displays of togetherness by the Grebes and the Swans

Full marks to the Wildlife Rescue and the lady who rescued the Mallard. I wonder how long it had been trapped for...

Must have been over night Mags, it was visited by other Mallards that seemed concerned about it, it was heartrending watching it struggle to free itself.

It was fortunate you and others spotted the Mallard there yesterday and raised the alarm. I hope it will recover soon and be released back in the lake.
