My first attempt at growing from seed
Last year I bought a yellow Mimulus plant (Monkey flower) for my pond which did really well. It grew to about three feet tall and flowered right though the summer. So I decided to have a go at growing from seed. I saved some seed pods and kept them in the shed until a couple of weeks ago when I planted them into seed trays. I don't have a greenhouse so they were covered and left by the bedroom window where it is light and warm.
This morning I noticed lots of tiny leaves had emerged from the compost and my first thought was that they were weeds. I was expecting shoots in the centre of the compartments but these are sort of spread about, even though I only planted one seed in each. Having looked online, I now think that it has been successful.
As I have said, this is my very first attempt so I will be very happy if they grow to full plants.
What's your opinion? Are these weeds or baby Mimulus?
