Serious question. Why does the UK suffer so many potholes compared to other countries?

Is it because we build poor quality roads in order to save money?
Is it because we have more traffic per sq. mile compared to others?
Is it because our roads are poorly maintained?

All of the above.

Typical, we invented railroads and tarmacadam roads and other nations do a better job of running and maintaining them.
