Actually I think you are right so few bugs on my windscreen these days. Maybe it's because modern cars have such good windscreen washers and we don't give them time to accumulate?
We don't get many locusts in the UK Bruce
Insecticides don't seem to have affected the spider population Omah at least not in my garden, big as donkeys they are
The last time I drove through a serious outbreak was in my Mitsubishi Starwagon. It is like a soft but continuous hail storm. Their bodies covered the front and all the wishbones and chassis at the front but not a single one on the radiator. For some reason in that vehicle the air flow to the radiator was such that anything heavy never got to the radiator.
I always put flywire over the air intake on my cars, it may be ugly but it saves a lot of hassle in the long run.
I think you can just make it out in that photo across the grill. Some people use shade cloth fixed to the bull bar.
'Cos i'm a newie, i'm not sure if i can post links. But i'll give it a go.
I saw this on the Bbc website earlier.
Talking about bugs on the screen. Police stopped this van today and the windscreen wipers worked by pulling a piece of string.
