Re: Fiona Onasanya

Good. It's about time these politicians realised that they aren't above the law or at least be seen as to not be above the law. If I had my way, she'd be back in the nick serving the rest of her time..

Hopefully, her constituents will deselect her and get somebody more trustworthy.

Re: Fiona Onasanya

Scandalous that meanwhile she benefits from a MP's privileges and salary.

Fiona Onasanya recall petition - Details

https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/new...rough-15932743

Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP, has now officially announced that Ms Onasanya is the subject of a recall petition.

If 10 per cent of the population, approximately 7,000 people, sign the petition, the MP would lose her seat and a by-election will be triggered.

The recall petition, which will cost about £500,000, will be fully funded by the Government.

How does the recall petition work?

For six weeks, registered electors will be able to sign a petition slip and place it in a ballot box at one of 10 signing places.

The petition signing period will run from 7am Tuesday, March 18 to 5pm Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

This is the first time that a recall petition has been held in England and Wales.

No updates on how many people have signed the petition can be given whilst the process is ongoing.

The result will be sent to the Speaker of the House of Commons on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and local authorities must then await their reply before publishing.
Onasanya's court case, imprisonment and appeal have already cost tens of thousands of pounds and now it's going to cost £500,000 to finally get rid of her .....

..... and she'll still be getting her MP's salary until some time after May 1 .....

Re: Fiona Onasanya

Hopefully, the petition in her constituency to deselect her will be successful to be rid of her.

To think that this is what it has come to. A criminal MP, jailed for a crime, out on licence with a tag on her ankle, still collecting a salary. Anyone else in a public or private job would have been sacked immediately. The woman has no morals or shame.

Jailed MP Fiona Onasanya votes in Commons for first time since release

https://www.itv.com/news/2019-03-12/...since-release/

Disgraced MP Fiona Onasanya voted in the Commons for the first time since her release from prison last month.

The member for Peterborough travelled to Parliament to vote against the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal.
No source seems to have more details than that, so we don't know how other members "welcomed" her .....

After her initial appearance in the Commons on 13/3, Ms Onasanya failed to appear for THREE subsequent Brexit votes on 14/3. Her office said that her non-appearance "was due to her receiving medical attention for the onset of a possible relapse of neurological condition Multiple Sclerosis (MS)."

How very convenient .....

She must have come down with whatever Dianne Abbott had when she failed to appear at a crucial vote recently.
