That's what you call it when you don't know the name. I took a walk in the woods and spotted a bush full of these.

A very quick Google search tells me that it`s probably a Fiddlehead Fern Bob , edible and seemingly tasty when young ( before it unfurls )

It very well may be a type of fern as the area where I was walked is covered with ferns.

Questions, questions Topaz Folk in this part of the country ......... no doubt you use strange terms for various things in your part of the world that we have never heard of...
