Apart from which our borders are so porous it seems people can come and go virtually as they please. If these jihadis are returning, who knows what side they've been fighting on?

Presumably from information received. Plus of course being of Arabic origin and flying in from somewhere in the Middle East where there's a war going on might give them a clue.
