Drop Links

The front and rear Drop links need doing on my car, I usually do them myself but of late, I ain't had the time or inclination.
I went onto YouTube to remind my self of the process, and watched a real time video on one of the fronts being replaced, the run time was 5 minuets 40 seconds, I had already purchased the items. Today I spotted mobile mechanic working on a car across the road, and thought to myself, the job should take about 20 minutes so an hours labour @ £40.00 per hour ish would be sufficient, not so £60.00 for the fronts and £90.00 for the rears, no wonder he had got a brand new van.

Re: Drop Links

Originally it was a great idea...the mechanic didn't have the overheads of a premises so cheaper to set up and clients didn't have the hassle of dropping their car off.

Now it seems they charge a premium for convenience.

Re: Drop Links

I started doing them, but, soon got pissed off when the allen key wouldn't locate in the end of the ball joint shaft, the local Garage, who, unlike the Mobile Mechanic, has a staff of five, and usual overheads, did the job for £80.00, not £150.00, all is good now.
