Mare & Foal Sanctuary, Near Totnes, Devon.

Yesterday a friend took me here & I adopted one of their horses.
Kavaner.

This one is Hugo.

I can't remember the names of the others.

I give to the donkey sanctuary ever since the kids adopted 2 about 20 years ago.

Great work these charities do.

They do, Tpin.
The yards & stables there were so clean, the ponies/horses well groomed & well fed. The staff friendly & knowledgable. It's a lovely sanctuary. They have a café & their bacon rolls are yummy too.

The horses do look well cared for and it's so nice that there are places like this around to care for the old and neglected horses.

He is so shiny, is he very young.

They all Gorgeous Tiff, I went to a Horse retirement home on IOM , we were able to buy food for them and feed them. Lovely to see them well cared for ..

I did want to take them home.
Kavaner is 17.1 hh & 11 years old.
He's a Shire, unusual to see a ridden one as well.

Most were young ponies & unbroken, came to the stables in their Mum's tummy's, the Mums have been re-homed, but the young ponies will get homes when they are old enough. They get well handled at the stables. There were a few older horses too.

I love Shires gentle giants with big feet he is a luck boy having you come along Tiffany .

I haven't been to the IOW retirement home.
I think it's more training & rehabilitation at the Mare & Foal, they take in a lot of young ponies & pregnant mares there, other horses go to other rescue centres.
They have one of those round pens in the grounds, I noticed & those are a very good way to train a horse/pony.
