Kissing on the cheeks is a normal greeting here, 3, left, right and left again, it´s just part of everyday life and a part that all ex pats appear to accept even when greeting people of their own nationality.

Blow that clumsy, I couldn't be bothered with 3 lots, I think 2 is daft enough. I think this is a 'Celebrity' thing, they started it, all kissing each other twice on the chat shows. All the celebs kiss their guests now, male or female, whether they want it or not.

Do folks in Spain kiss their kids 3 times when they come home?

Only people hugged or kissed by me are family, a good hand shake or not touching at all is all anyone else will get from me. My husband doesn't even like hand shakes - leaps back like he is being scalded LOL.

It´s more of an adult thing I think Mups, but when I see parents meeting their kids off the school buses they certainly do kiss them. However I think that in Spain, France, Italy, and no doubt other countries, it has nothing to do with the "celebrity" thing, it´s something that has always been done.
