My phone has a call filtering function which is supposed to stop unwanted calls. It does work but also prevents calls from hospitals and doctors surgeries so had to disable it.

Sadly that means you are paying for BT's Caller ID service either directly or as part of a wider package. I personally think it's criminal for them to continue this protection racket.
