Re: Guess What Dropped On My Doormat This Morning?!

I've done a few that have always been clear. Not this year though. My lower half has been scanned a couple of times and I reckon if there was any bowel problems, it would have shown up on those. I'll have to ask about this when the next scan is done.

Yes, I agree Ruthio but bowel cancer runs in my family, so you can imagine how distraught I was to receive an 'unclear' result. You do another test and you don't get the result straight away, you have to wait for over a week. I do think my 'unclear' test was due to me eating black pudding as this is one of the foods that can alter the result.

Of course, because it contains blood, and blood is exactly what they're looking for.
But Art, this particular test is not foolproof in any case...

And if bowel cancer runs in your family you should be regularly screened with a colonoscopy examination every couple of years.
Maybe you should check this with your GP?

I agree Meg. We should think ourselves fortunate we are given the opportunity to have this free test.
It is not pleasant I know, but I would rather find out sooner , and have more chance of surviving, than later.

We get them here too, along with other tests we can go for, i.e. breast screening, ours come from the Valencian Health Authority.

Re: Guess What Dropped On My Doormat This Morning?!

I didn't do mine as because I'm so overweight I wasn't able to do it so didn't bother but then my doctor wrote to me saying she would rather I did the test so I phoned up for another one and I gave it a try but when that one came I still couldn't manage it so I phoned up the screening test place and told them and they suggested getting empty ice cream cartons and putting them in the toilet pan.

So I have been sent another one but won't be using it until I've eaten 3 cartons of ice cream She said there was no time limit on it as long as I did it, even if it takes me a year (doing the test not eating the ice cream, it wouldn't take me a year to eat the ice cream ) You're not allowed to let your motions drop into the bottom of the toilet.

I will get it done in the end, it's just that my stomach is too big to get my hands in the toilet to catch the motions

Icecream cartons or large size margerine tubs are good, make sure you wedge it in though in case it flips over.
