Re: Heating problem ?

Still having problems ! The heating in the front rooms so kitchen small bedroom and bathroom now won't go off, whereas back large bedroom and living room won't come on. I've got British Gas coming tomorrow to see what's gone wrong.

Luckily it's not that cold so a blanket over knees is fine in the living room, but sleeping in the small bedroom is a bit sweaty.

Without being there and checking the system, it's difficult to diagnose. However, it could be that your heating diverter valve is sticking open. You could have sludge in the system, especially where the cold feed enters the system. A faulty programmer and a combination of the two also.

I'll let you know when we find out. Luckily we are on a service contract so shouldn't cost us.

Even better I bet that they offer you a power flush and system upgrade - chargeable of course.

And 5 times the price a local H/F would charge.

A person I knew had her C/H insured by the Gas Board..it stopped working she was told it was silted up and this was not covered under their insurance so she had to pay for a power flush would cost £500 plus(1980) to descale it.

Called me in I vented the Pump and charged £25 system working again.

PS the boiler was under a kitchen unit and the pump was at the same level and not vented.

Re: Heating problem ?

I've got a nice man willing to do a power flush should it be needed at a third of the price the British Gas charge. So we are all set to do that if we need.

Julie,

I know a really good heating engineer (he was one of my staff some time back) he's now self employed and not a million miles from you. I can give you his number if you have any problems in the future. He was mainly a commercial heating engineer, so finds domestic stuff quite easy.
