I Need some help, Kitchen plinth

Hi

I am having trouble removing a long length of plinth to my kitchen base units.

It is 240 cm long.

It is not fixed at either end and the middle I can move.

It would have appear to have two fixings, both 60 cm from either end.

Any ideas how I can remove it without breaking it?

Have you looked closely at each end to see there is no screw or nail. On the other hand there might just be retaining clips behind or another alternative they have used something like "No more nails" as a wood glue. or it might just be the weight of the units above pressing down on it at those points

Have you taken out everything in the units above to lighted the downward pressure

Gentle persuasion at those points may release the plinth but without seeing it one can only guess

Agreed.

Gently persuade it to move using a screwdriver or similar.

Sometimes when I have come across plinths that are hard to remove, I have drilled a few holes close to the top of the plinth and big enough to get a largish allen key through. The allen key can then be pushed through, twisted and pulled forward.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestions.

I need to remove the plinth so I can get to the dishwasher, the pump has failed.

Yes as Realspeed and Doctor say probably clips on the legs or just the weight of the units, but be careful as it will break easily. If you can get your arm in from one end, can you just tap it from behind with a hammer?

Hi

There is barely enough room to slide the blade of a knife in, I will persevere.
