Bird ID

Could someone please tell me the differences between the different types of thrushes?
I know how to tell a red wing but getting confused with field fares, mistles and other thrushes.

Thank you.

Re: Bird ID

Nom please you tell me what sort of bird would have a black head and black wings but white underneath . Looked like some sort of tern it divebombed my dog and drove him crazy for about 15 minutes making quite a distinct call.
Sorry no pictures. Any ideas?

The only reason I could identify the Fieldfare in my garden a couple of days ago is that it stayed still long enough for me to get a good look at it (probably frozen to the spot poor thing).

It sounds like a LapwIng Muddy, ground nesting and very defensive of their territory, the call is distinvtive.
