Re: Drs Receptionists
I have always been to see the diabetic nurse (er, she's not diabetic; I am) every 6 months.
My last visit was in May and so, not having received any appointment so far, I telephoned on 28th November to arrange an appointment, explaining all the details of course.
The receptionist informed me that the
two girls who arrange appointments with the diabetic nurse will call me back. It did cause me to wonder, at the time, why a
single nurse required
two clerks to arrange her appointments, but didn't pursue the matter.
No call back, so I telephoned again on the 29th only to listen to a recorded message informing me that the lines were closed that day. Why?
Consequently, I telephoned again on the 30th only to be told by the receptionist that the (two) girls who arrange the appointments were in a meeting (presumably a very important meeting, as it required the presence of both of them!) and that the two girls will only give appointments when they become available and that my appointment is likely to be some time in the new year. I did advise her that the diabetic nurse had asked me to ensure I had an appointment after six months.
I have not pursued the matter. As long as my repeat prescriptions continue to be forthcoming, I am quite happy not to waste my time running about after them, as I am happy with my condition at the moment anyway.
I am looking forward to the next forthcoming routine appointment with the doctor, which I believe is necessary to ensure that I still receive repeat prescriptions. If I haven't since been seen by the diabetic nurse, I wonder how many clerks are assigned to making his appointments (when they are not in meetings)!
