Mine doesn't own me, most of the time it's turned off.

I don't have a landline and admit that my cell phone is never out of my hand.

I love it while standing in line at the grocery store, waiting in doc's office, using it when I am lost and want to get found, use it for price matching.

Sometimes I even use it to make or receive a phone call.

Me and Celtus as I named him have a love affair going.

Same here Meg. Emergencies and the occasional text. No apps, no camera.

I usually answer the cell phone as the only calls I receive are from wife or family. We still have a landline and that's where all the BS , and solicitors call. Even that line, we never answer before looking at the I.D or listening for the message as to who's calling.

Meg, like you I kept a small cell for emergency use only for years, the thing was ancient. Also a land line.

Then I found out that for just a few dollars more I could give up the landline and have the fancy cell which gave me more in the way of long distance and it is like a mini computer that I can take with me camping where no land line is available.

Re: Does it own you ? or do you own it ?

I have to have my 'phone on me all the time in case of medical emergencies (mine.)
Before I was diagnosed with heart failure it was only on if I went out, and sometimes I didn't take it with me if I was just nipping down to the village for something.

I probably make one call a week, and receive perhaps two in exchange.

I get one very important text a week that tells me which pub my friends are going to visit on a Tuesday night, and that's about it.
I hardly ever send any texts. Two a month would be unusual.
It's a PAYG and I top it up about twice a year about a tenner at a time.

It doesn't have a camera. This was a legacy from work where they weren't allowed, and some of the places I got sent would result guns pointed at you if you produced a camera.

It has games but I prefer to take a book if I'm going somewhere where I think I will have time to kill.

The only other function on it that I have found useful is the alarm facility.

There are a few people like that here Red. My dad for one - and he keeps his telephone numbers on a piece of paper tucked in the back of his phone.

Am I the only one then?
Don't have one.
Never needed one.
And survive very well without one!

No you are not the only one .. I don't have one either ...
My husband has one and so does my daughter ...
I usually with one or the other ...
I never had a cell phone and I really don't want one ...
If I go somewhere by myself I don't want to be bother ..
If I don't have it no one will bother me ...
As far as I concern ... unless you have a problem with the car
or an accident .. most emergencies .. a phone can't really help you ..
