Lion Attack

While i am sorry this man was attacked it has really upset me that a lion was shot and killed because of the stupidity of the man. Why on earth would anyone go into an enclosure knowing there was a lion in there, he was very careless and because of his stupidity and carelessness we have one less lion of an already declining species which will soon become extinct because of mans cruelty and greed.

I hate how people can make money from wild animals and I think all zoos of exploitation should be closed down. Of course I am all for conservation of wild animals and these conservation projects are to be applauded for trying to conserve our lions, tigers and wildlife but they should not be there for the entertainment of us humans.

I am a huge lover of these magnificent creatures and it really does break my heart that the lion had to die because of that idiotic, foolish man. Of course I am glad the man is recovering, I wouldn't want him to die but it really angered me to see him posing and smiling for pictures from his hospital bed, he is supposedly devastated that the lion died then why would he want to pose looking all happy so soon after this tragedy and allowing the photos to become public.

Did he think of himself as some kind of lion whisperer? and because he had raised the lion from a cub that it wouldn't have it's wild instincts. Utterly crazy. This poor lion born, exploited and died in captivity. Exploitation is just wrong!

Please be aware the following video is very graphic and quite frightening.

Re: Lion Attack

How horrible - poor lion!

I can understand that, if something was upsetting the lions, the man would want to investigate - but to go in there alone was stupid. He should have had someone cover him by taking a tranquilizer dart gun - then no-one would have been hurt. Anyone who knows anything at all about lions knows they are unpredictable creatures and if one is already upset about something you should take every precaution for your own protection and that of the lion.

Animals of other species are there for human use. However, it was daft of that guy to go into the animal's enclosure. No doubt the lion had to be shot to save him.

What a dreadful thing to say.

That particular lion was in an enclosure - supposedly under the man's protection. Anyone who is stupid enough to go near an already upset lion without back up obviously doesn't know the first thing about them and should be sacked from the job. All it needed was enough common sense to take someone with him armed with a tranquilizer gun. Then all them would have been safe.

As it is - once again - human stupidity results in the destruction of a beautiful creature.

Why is that a dreadful thing to say? We eat animals, use their skins for clothing and have been doing so since humans climbed out of the primeval swamp. I have no problem with that as long as they are disposed of as swiftly as possible.

Lion Queen, I totally agree with your post, but I will say no more as Tara and I have completely different ideas about animals and there is already enough arguing on this forum
