I always thought Catholics weren't allowed in the Masons here in Scotland,and the Catholic equivalent is the Knights of St Columbus as SF says,they too do charitable works ..2 of My Uncles were Members and We always went to any of the dances etc' in the local Columbus club where the Membership was mostly Catholic.....Don't think there is anything sinister about Them though

Pretty sure they do Charity stuff,Like Shriners support their Hospitals,and the Moose Lodges support Orphan's, They are like behind the scenes support groups.

I agree May
As a child I used to know some old chaps ( they were friend of my grandad ) who were knights of St Columbus .
Not one was under 70
I can only recall them doing charity works none which seemed remotely sinister.

Ex brother in law was one, suffice to say I was glad when wasband was black-balled.
There was /is something similar in S.Africa called the Bruderbond, folk talked about them in hushed tones! Hence I know nothing about them.
I think us ladies should start a secret society "The Poinker Sisters" has a nice ring to it!
