He did and that is why the charities have won their appeal.

Re: when is a will not a will

I wonder how much of this "gift" was spent on appeals and Lawyers?

The lady left the money to charity....her wishes were not respected by the daughter and now the "gift" will be far less.

It seems that judges are becoming increasingly idiotic.

Is it a virus, perhaps?

Re: when is a will not a will

Having been subject to a tontine will I'd say wills are a mind field and spite can make the next generations very unhappy, I'm not in favour of spiteful wills but when they are made they have to be followed closely. What I do think might be a way forward is extending laws so some things are not able to be done, one case I heard of the family had to do somethings they should never have been asked to do to get their inheritances, that needs outlawing.

Re: when is a will not a will

Hi

My will is very specific.

Any assets are to be divided equally between my two kids, specified as the issue of my wife when I was married to her.

It even specifies how my assets are to be disposed of.

My antiques are going to auction, no house clearance

I agree you should be permitted to leave your money to whomever you wish. However, it is a pity the woman didn't leave it to a good cause, NOT flipping animals!

I have left a bequest in my will to an animal charity
It will be at my children's choosing as to which one.
