Hi

Been there, done that.

The Nurse was an absolute vision of beauty, an Ex of my son many many years ago.

She did not pick up any abnormality with my Aorta but did pick up other issues.

It is well worth going for the scan, it does not hurt, does not take long.

It could however be a life saver.

This misunderstanding has annoyed radiographers for years!

'Sonographer' - a radiographer who specialises in ultrasound.

Having said that, it seems that there are some laymen (PC: laywomen?) who have been trained to a limited level to be able to perform certain ultrasound investigations, such as the aorta as in this case.

It was very common, when I was in the job, for female radiographers to be called 'nurses' and male radiographers to be called 'doctors'. Although it may be seen as a compliment (to the males), I always politely pointed out that I am not a doctor, but a radiographer!
