Confused!

I had a letter from my surgery saying I needed to go for a routine cholesterol blood test.

So I did.

I had an appointment with my GP for this arm/hand pain that's driving me nuts.
I asked the results of the blood test.
She said it was slightly high but as I don't get on with statins not to worry.

I had a letter a few weeks later saying that the blood test showed I was in danger of having type 2 diabetes, could I make an appointment for a fasting blood test.

So I did.

The letter also said to make a follow-up appointment with my GP, only pre-bookables were in 5 - 6 weeks time.

So I didn't.

I phoned today for result of diabetes blood test.
No sign of diabetes, normal, but, high cholesterol, need to see GP asap.
I wonder why chlolesterol test showed diabetes and diabetes test showed cholesterol!
It's a mystery!
I'll have to phone for same day appointment at 8 am tomorrow and get to the bottom of it!

Re: Confused!

I had a fasting cholesterol test a few weeks back and mine was also high enough for them to send me to the hospital, not been yet, and it seems I will see a dietitian, a diabetic specialist and a nurse.
I only weigh 9st 6lbs at 5' 5'' and am not big around my middle area so not sure how the cholesterol and diabetes checks work.
Had a letter form the endocrinology department so will soon find out..

Poor Tess, I hope you get it sorted.
Everything's getting worse with the NHS. I've had muddles myself so I understand how you feel. Good luck gal.

Re: Confused!

I think they do it to confuse us quite deliberately, keep us guessing so they feel cleverer tess. I hope you get it sorted and there is nothing wrong at all.
