Macron VS Le Pen

Well, It appears, as predicted, Macron and Le Pen are to go head to head on May 7. If Macron wins (and I think he will) then Brexit will be made all the tougher because of it. Strange that Macron should garner so much of a following considering he is merely an offshoot of the very government that has handled the countries affairs for so long - and so badly at that.

Macron appears to be an EU creation, tailor made to topple the far right and keep the EU legacy alive and well. Le Pen has earned her followers the very hard way - and that includes having to go cap in hand to Russia for finances after the banks wouldn't support her because of her policies. I'm afraid France and the EU in particular are going to be in for a rocky ride whichever way it goes.

My worry about all this is that if the EU manages to rally after being wounded so badly by Brexit they will use their political and law changing muscle to stifle further unrest. Their own miss management should put paid to them at some point which is heartening of course. So many support them by nefarious means though - such as the incredibly biased BBC. Facebook and Google are also under pressure. Who knows what news we will be spoon fed eventually. Propaganda only is what they would really like to be broadcast. It could come to pass that is all we will see and hear the way things are going - or at least in the countries they still have power over. I should think they will attempt to gain far more and quickly at that.

Re: Macron VS Le Pen

I'm sorry but I am too tired to respond to all of your post, which is interesting.

I'm not too sure about Macron winning, but I am sure that Marine le Pen might be a wrong choice. We had Brexit, but without UKIP to form a Government, which is a lot different to Marine le Pen and her Nationalist party forming a Government.

They are already fighting in the streets of France tonight.

Of course , we have the German elections next, so could be another shake up. No wonder Merkel has been fast tracking and sending 80,000 migrants back home. A great vote catcher , and really there's not much to choose between any of them when it comes down to base.

Oh, I think Le Pen is ready for the task at hand. France is sliding into anarchy UNDER socialist governance as it is. More of the same is not the answer. Unrest will not be quelled by Macron's rule. No, the right will take control eventually I think if not now then at some time in the future. The troubles that are brewing in France will continue to steep should either win though. It will be very interesting how the EU will figure in things should Macron win. How they will conspire to keep a lid on things.

I'm sure le Pen will win. Many in France are unsure how to vote and I think if in doubt they will vote the populist candidate.

I think a Le Pen victory would be better for the UK so I hope she wins. I know very little about Macron he really has sprung from nowhere can you imagine a party just one year old being elected here?

I have never liked far right/left of anything.

We cannot just hope for Le Pen because it suits our political game.

This is about people and among the headline hardline attitude to immigration. There is also the anti choice anti abortion line the FN hold and what about the anti gay rights they class any open displays of Homosexuality as provocation... Does this mean gay bashing will be ok under Le Pen.

I cannot help but think of the lives ruined and the steps backward if the national motto, liberty, equality, fraternity is ignored

I don't know the ins and outs of French politics, and I haven't read Le Pens manifesto. I do know though that negotiations with Le Pen as leader would be better for the UK.

Yes, it may seem selfish to put our own interests first but in doing so we are securing our children's and grandchildrens futures and that is what matters to me.

The French will choose what they feel is best for them but I think it's ok for us to hope it means it's better for us too.

I agree Summer. We shouldn't feel guilty about putting our own interests first. Every other Country does it, it's only us that has been brainwashed into thinking we are some sort of World charity.

I also don't know much about French politics but I'm guessing the support for Le Pen is much like the support gained by Farage in recent years. When ordinary people voiced their concerns, no one listened.

Re: Macron VS Le Pen

Hi

We know exactly what we will will get if Macron wins.

He has met Mrs May at 10 Downing Street.

His speech was totally uncompromising, even said that the object of the Exercise was to get UK Services to move to France.

He has also stated that another primary objective is to renegotiate the Border Controls we have in France.

I cannot blame the man for this.

He is looking after France.

Our own Prime Minister is doing no such thing, far more focused on giving £Billions of our money abroad in Foreign Aid rather than ensuring our own people do not die on trolleys in A & E waiting to be seen.

The alternative is Corbyn, who is even worse.

I think you are right LD! I believe that every country should have the right to choose who lives in their country. In the past people who wanted to move to another country usually had jobs to come to, so a ready income, and could only bring their immediate family. I believe that the mass immigration of economic migrants to Europe has caused unrest and most people resent it.
I know that EU migrants were not the problem, but I do think that people are now prepared to fight, so they can preserve the homes and work opportunities for their own people.
