Star Jasmine

Some one, ages ago, was asking about something to hide an ugly fence or wall.

My suggestion was Star Jasmine and I had a photo of a fence the council had just planted Star Jasmine to try to hide.

This is the fence this spring/summer after the jasmine has established itself. The smell of jasmine fills the whole carpark but you can see how effective the plant is at hiding something ugly.

If you look closely at the left hand edge the rails of the fence are slightly visible still but if you tended the plant properly rather than just let it do its own thing (this is a council centre) then that would not be visible.

Fantastic covering plant with an equally fantastic perfume.

Sorry about the pizza box someone had thrown there - this was Monday morning so the council staff had not yet been round picking up such debris.

Re: Star Jasmine

A very striking hedge Bruce and I can just imagine the scent of jasmine in the surrounding area

Hmm, that's a point, Muddy.

I bet it smells heavenly though.

Re: Star Jasmine

How beautiful but here it's sold as a house plant, I've never seen it as a hedge before.

It's climber like ivy or wisteria you have to be careful that it doesn't get a way from you or get into trees because it can go mad. The smell makes it all worth while though.

The house next door used to have it on the front fence and the smell each year was wonderful but the new mob ripped it out.

Having had it indoors I think it is suited to your use Bruce as its a bit overpowering.
