Re: Won't be buying this ever again!!

Good grief, those articles are real eye-openers. And am absolutely disgusted to learn about the Kosher slaughter. I cannot believe that our supermarkets are openly selling meat from Halal and Kosher Abattoirs and putting them on the shelves for unsuspecting idiots like me, who although I haven't eaten Lamb for 12 months because it became too expensive for my liking and purse, I was looking forward to a Sunday Roast! Thank goodness I decided to read the reviews as there were a few stating just how disgusted they were that Sainbury's were hiding the fact that it was Halal meat.

That's it for me. I only ever buy English Chicken and Beef, but in the past always trusted NZ Lamb. Never again!
I am furious they tucked the information away in the small print on the back. Who the hell ever reads the small print on a joint of meat? I am only ever usually interested in the use by date and the price!! Oh well, back to British Chicken.
(until someone puts me off that too)

Totally agree Shroppie. They should be made by law to print it large and clear so that we have a choice whether to buy or not.

In the link I put up in post 3, I believe it said some poultry is killed the same. But none of the Lamb seem to be labelled thus in any of the big supermarkets.

Hi

Halal Chicken.

The vast majority of chicken here in the UK is Halal, the thing being that it is all pre stunned if you buy it from a Supermarket.

You would have to go to a specialist Halal Butcher to find some which is not pre stunned.

This is done purely by the big supermarkets and catering suppliers to maximise their profits.

It is simply not worth their while to do otherwise.

In the case of chicken there is very little difference in the actual method of slaughter.

Kosher Chicken is most definitely not pre stunned.

Halal and Kosher slaughter is allowed solely because of pressure from two minority groups, the Jews and Muslims, who on this issue work together to impose their beliefs on ours.

It is the tail wagging the dog.

There is absolutely nothing to stop us banning both,Denmark has done so.

We choose not too.

For those who like the idea that revenge is sweet.

I can seem to remember ( correctly?)

The new plastic fivers and tenners are not halal or kosher.
The traces of tallow in them, from animal fats, must make a Muslim or Jew cringe at handling money... as I'm sure they must have to overcome their reluctance.

Hi

I have yet to hear of any Muslim Taxi Driver refusing to take a new tenner.

Ruthio, I have a lovely Butcher who prides himself on displaying where all of his meat is sourced, and I shop with him for steaks, bacon, chops, fresh chicken etc, but it was only because I was shopping online and noticed the bargain price for NZ Lamb (which I never hesitated to buy years ago). As I say, I haven't bought Leg of Lamb for over 12 months because the price of Lamb shot through the roof, and I wouldn't buy it on principle when I could buy two other roasts for the same price.(just me being thrifty).
I wouldn't even pay the high price for Lamb at my lovely Butcher.

I don't know why but I decided to look at their reviews first. It was showing 4 stars out of 5, so someone wasn't happy with their lamb and I wanted to know why before I bought.

Imagine my absolute disgust when the first review I read stated that every New Zealand Lamb (not just some) is now killed by the Halal method!!. The reviewer was furious that Sainsbury's only mention this in the tiny small print, instead of making it prominent on the front of the packaging so customers can make an informed decision whether to buy meat that has not been slaughtered in the usual way.

Needless to say, I am not going to touch that lamb. I'm shocked and surprised that the country of New Zealand allow every single Lamb to be slaughtered this way.
I will in future stick to English or Welsh Lamb.

What are your feelings regarding Halal slaughter. I'm afraid I'm totally against it.
I find it completely unacceptable. As has been said by many, 'they' are effectively changing our laws and our very culture.

How much further will this 'take-over' progress?

Re: Won't be buying this ever again!!

I don't eat a lot of meat so I hadn't realised that halal meat was so widespread, which I am not happy about at all

So yet again it looks like British people and customs having to change to suit immigrants

Here's a trick I've heard of. Next time you're in a supermarket and notice that the meat is halal, see if you can accidentally drop a pork chop or two into the display
Apparently it pisses them off no end

Plus the PC Fascists trying to ban Morris Dancers and, unbelievably, stop soldiers from wearing camouflage paint

As you might expect nowadays, our spineless government gives in to them

Hi

The blame game JBR.

They are not changing any of our Laws at all.

We are changing our Laws, end of.

We could,and should,simply say no.

It is exactly the same as the EU, we are blaming them for our own failings.

EU Law in no way prohibits us from banning it.

EU Law in no way prevents us us from controlling Immigration from the rest of the World.

It is entirely our own fault.

EU Law in no way prevents us from deporting the Roma, the beggars and Big Issue sellers.

France has deported 15,000 of them, even though they are EU Citizens.

EU Law does not insist that we class Big Issue sellers as self employed and provide them with Benefits,we are unique in that.

Germany can deport unwanted migrants in 6 months,we have a backlog of 23 years at present.

France can do it in 16 weeks, don't even bother to try in Poland or Hungary.

All these Countries are part of the EU, all subject to the same rules.

It is entirely our fault, naff all to do with the EU.
