Amaryllis

A Christmas gift
From a dormant bulb it is now 30 inch high and the flowers are 8 inches diameter.

A beautiful colour too.

Re: Amaryllis

That's a nice cheerful colour on these drab days, Azure.

I love this around Christmas, and usually have a couple.
I have never been able to get them to flower a second year though.

Re: Amaryllis

I usually get given an Amaryllis for Christmas, lovely striking flowers. I have never been able to get one to flower the following year either.

A few years ago we had a member here called Dandysmom, from Washington DC, she also like the amaryllis flowers and she planted the bulbs in the garden after flowering and was very successful at getting them to flower the following years.

Re: Amaryllis

I was given one by DD 4 weeks before Christmas and only now it is just beginning to show signs of flowering.

Thank you Mups
I did have one flower the second year but it was much smaller.
