Getting Tough with the EU
Hi
The latest round of negotiations started today.
We still have no detailed plan of what we want, so discussions are solely about technical issues.
A deal, if we are to have one, needs to put before the respective Parliaments by October this year ready for March next year.
All EU States must agree it, as must our own Parliament.
Our Economy is stable at the moment, a fall in the £ which is making Imports more expensive and a small fall in GDP.
Ireland is playing Hard Ball, they can just block the entire deal on their own.
Our Government is split and Corbyn is just stirring things, with absolutely no clear Plan in place.
What to do?
JRM and Boris are sniping and threatening from the side lines.
They certainly have enough votes behind them to scupper anything other than a Hard Brexit.
The EU have not come running, we are not going to have our cake and eat it.
They have been remarkably united and have been putting their plans in place ready for a Hard Brexit.
They have agreed their offer, a Canada style deal.
They have done their sums and can cope with that.
Our Industries are miles ahead of our Government, they have their plans in place.
They are splitting their operations, a base here and a base in the EU.
It matters nothing to them where they pay tax.
They are not going to be losing out, they will simply pay tax in the EU rather than here.
On Services alone, the EU will be getting more in Tax than we currently pay them.
Renault are building their new van here, cheaper to do so than building a new plant in the EU.
Airbus, Nissan and Toyota are making decisions on whether to move out to the EU.
Airbus most certainly will, Nissan and Toyota are wait and see what deal we get.
BMW and VW will still be building Rolls and Bentley here, money is not an issue for their customer base.
Rolls Royce Aerospace, the plane engine builders, are a different matter, they can build them in the EU.
Both Japan and South Korea, the two huge Trade Deals just signed with the EU, have said that will not be signing one with the UK, a wait and see attitude.
India have said get lost until you allow more Immigration.
Would you risk it on the Boris and JRM stance?
Just threaten them with no deal?
I am genuinely interested.
