Sacateurs

Not sure if this should be here, or in DIY?

Does anyone sharpen their Sacateurs?
If so, can you try and explain how to do it and do you have to dismantle them or not?

Ta muchly.

Re: Sacateurs

I use sandpaper to sharpen scissors, just cut through it a few times. I haven't tried it on secateurs though, mine gets lost before they get blunt.

Re: Sacateurs

I like that sandpaper idea TessA, must try it on my scissors. I guess it may work on secateurs but I only buy cheap ones and replace them when they get blunt.

Re: Sacateurs

Now that's strange Mups, I've had a pair of secateurs for over thirty years and they've never needed sharpening.....What are you cutting with them Mups?.....

Re: Sacateurs

I have had a local garden machinery bod sharpen my secateurs.

Cheap secateur = cheap steel = velly velly blunt, velly velly soon.

Re: Sacateurs

I take mine apart to sharpen them on a grindstone Mups, which also gives me the opportunity to lubricate them, end up good as new., so post me yours and I'll sort 'em for you.
