Yes ruthio, and like Sydney, it grows bigger every day, both cities are busting out all over lol - nobody wants to go the the country towns because the best doctors, schools, hospitals etc are in the cities. Many children from the country who leave home to attend university never return.

This is the right time of year when the 'grey nomads' hitch up their caravans and take off for the outback.

In October 1956, at the age of 72, she set up her tent on the grounds of what is now Olive Pink Botanic Garden and lobbied NT politicians vigorously to establish a Flora Reserve on the site in order to protect native flora and provide a site where locals could visit and learn about desert environments. The Arid Regions Native Flora Reserve was gazetted in 1956, and Miss Pink was appointed as Honorary Curator, a role she maintained until her death on 6th July 1975 at the age of 91.

While the crowds smother Anzac Hill, I chose to venture over to the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens to capture the sunset and the West MacDonnell Ranges.

A Red Boobook
By ddubtoille · · From Pic of the Week
A Red Boobook (Ninox boobook lurida) from Lake Eacham over the weekend, I saw this guy fly down from a tree and grab a small mammal and take off and was a bit annoyed I missed out on a photo so kept on herping and came back at the end of the walk and he was back in the tree so luckily got this photo of his grumpy face.

I saw this Keelback in the Ross River last night eating a Cane Toad.
Keelbacks are the only snake in Australia that have a slight immunity to.
The introduced Cane Toad is poisonous, so Keelbacks are able to ingest them with minimal effects.
