It doesn't work out that way. Properties end up abandoned and areas go downhill. Is this what we want for our capital?

Re: Possible 100,000 city jobs to go

Hi

According to my son, who was a senior analyst for a UK bank, the vast majority of jobs affected will be UK Citizens, not Non UK Citizens.

Less than 10% of employees affected will be moved out of the UK, the rest will simply be made redundant.

Because of the low value of the pound the properties may well be bought up by foreign investors and rented pout at the highest the market will stand.
Since there is always a demand for London properties the price won't drop. But the profits will go abroad.

Hi

It is not all doom and gloom.

Apparently the EU is getting all het up about the possibility of the UK doing a Singapore and becoming a Tax Haven just offshore.

If that happens, we will get all those £billions back plus a lot more.

Are we obliged to trade with the EU?

Re: Possible 100,000 city jobs to go

There won't be high rents if there is a glut of overpriced properties with negative equity.

There Will be empty properties and contraction of the local economy along with a 100k jobs you bankrupt the businesses they spend their money on.

Combined with crackpot schemes such as charging diesel vehicles vast sums to enter london plus phasing out mortgage tax relief, increasing business rates and now a brexit exodus you end up with pre 1980s boom london. A soul-less neglected dump. Foreign investors buy then leave property empty because who will rent?

Is this the capital city we want? I'm sure there are some provinces that will cheer.

That's great for ordinary people. No public services or pension. From where do you fund schools and the police?

And at the same time reduce all those supposedly nasty diesel emissions...

except for taxis, HGVs and busses, of course, which somehow don't emit the same things from their diesel engines - ?
