May's Easter Message.

Hi

Mrs May had published her Easter message.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39607056

If this forum is typical of the UK then I think she is delusional.

We have those who insult the EU and make wild claims about how they need us more than we need them.

We have others who are determined to ensure that Brexit does not work just so they can say I told you so.

It is a microcosm of how split the UK is.

We are leaving, that is a fact of life.

It is a divorce.

Divorces have two outcomes, good ones and bad ones.

A good divorce is where both are intelligent enough to realise that it is over, both better off to life their separate lives and look for forward to a better future.

There is no ill will or rancour, you split the assets reasonably and avoid the huge costs of the lawyers and wish each other well.

That, to my mind at least, is what Brexit should be about.

The second type of divorce is the nasty one, each blaming the other and the insults flow.

Each side is out to hurt the other and the result is not good, financial damage to both.

The one thing that you do not not do in a Divorce, if you have any sense that is, is to tell your wife what a horrible cow her mother is and gloat that you are out to get her family and teach them a lesson.

That will immediately provoke a reaction and both will suffer.

That is what Juncker is doing to the UK, but equally we are doing it to the EU.

Boris calling them Nazis and the daily out pouring of utter rubbish from The Express has only one ending, economic damage to both.

A simple fact of life, the EU is much bigger than the UK financially, the damage will be far worse to the UK than it will be to the EU.

This is seriously not helped by those who will not accept the decision to leave and who are determined to reverse the result, of which there are some on here.

This shows weakness on our side and it is being seized on by some in the EU who are determined to punish us and force us to change our minds.

The Lib Dems, the Greens and the Scottish Nationalists are prime examples of this.

We have made a Democratic Decision, out we go.

Stupidity is not the solution to the issue, on either side.

We should all, here in the UK, just accept the decision and work together to get a sensible outcome as soon as possible.

We should stop insulting the EU and our Remainers should stop trying to sabotage Democracy.

Cool, rational heads all round and we can be out in two years with a reasonable deal, minimum damage to both sides and the freedom to move on.

Re: May's Easter Message.

I haven't read May's speech yet but will do so when I have a moment.

Sorry folks but equating our leaving the EU with a divorce is not an analogy I favour.

In a divorce, most participants once had a very close and and personal relationship and there is bound to be pain.

We are leaving a club to which we paid a subscription and contributed towards the purchase of assets. The talk of 'divorce' makes it all too personal when our leaving the club should be business like and impersonal .

Corbyn also gave some sort of message this morning but for the life of me, I can't remember what he said.

Well in fact this forum is as far from being nationally representative as you can get. I don't know how many other forums you read but this one is seriously skewed. In a few ways.
I also doubt there is anyone in here who wants a reversal of the result. I personally think the entire situation should never have been allowed. What I am interested in is the process of leaving and the deal that emerges. It will back up my sense that holding a ref was a monumentally stupid thing to do and that govts are there to protect people from their own folly and the machinations of those who would harm them...chiefly the press and politicians who have something to gain. They fill heads with garbage which should never be allowed to contaminate the national interest.

In addition I am sick to the back teeth with Mayhem's constant bleatings about how wonderful and united and successful everything is going to be. She should stop lying and tell the truth.

Re: May's Easter Message.

OH is so worried about the hate reactions he has seen both on forums and via FB that he is reluctant to travel with our car or motorbike to London for fear of vandalism, instead he will go via the train and use public transport.

This divorce is ugly and spiteful. Not sure what is coming togther but it isnt people.

Re: May's Easter Message.

Forums like these are not reflective of reality. They attract those of like minds who become antagonistic to those who do not agree with them. IN this one there is also a lot of playground nonsense too... instead of actually discussing the subject the threads dribble off into personal remarks largely because they don't like to be countered and cannot find a way to present their case other than group hugging even tighter and repeating the allegiance of faith prayer led by Mayhem.

From sources I have in the UK, hate is in greater evidence and more loudly pronounced. That is why I am sick of Mayhem burbling on about how alliances are being made and everything is one big happy family. Even
Farage couldn't make it up.

What would you expect a PM to do? Do you think she should tell us we are all doomed?
