Well if that statement is based on your posts it must be true as you seem incapable of commenting on any subject other than the EU.

Re: May's Easter Message.

this is the text of the speech, which is not really very much about Brexit but totally about championing Christianity :

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/e...a-mays-message

"Easter is a moment to reflect and an important time for Christians and others to gather together with families and friends. This year, after a period of intense debate over the right future for our country, there is a sense that people are coming together and uniting behind the opportunities that lie ahead. For at heart, this country is one great union of people and nations with a proud history and a bright future. And as we face the opportunities ahead of us – the opportunities that stem from our decision to leave the European Union and embrace the world – our shared interests, our shared ambitions, and above all our shared values can, and must, bring us together. This Easter I think of those values that we share – values that I learnt in my own childhood, growing up in a vicarage. Values of compassion, community, citizenship. The sense of obligation we have to one another. These are values we all hold in common, and values that are visibly lived out everyday by Christians, as well as by people of other faiths or none.
I think of those who go out of their way to visit the sick or bereaved, providing comfort and guidance to many in our country at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I think of the sacrifices and service of aid workers who put themselves in harm’s way to bring much-needed relief in war-torn parts of the world. We should celebrate all these contributions and others like them, and the difference they make in our society and around the world. In doing so, we should be confident about the role that Christianity has to play in the lives of people in our country. And we should treasure the strong tradition that we have in this country of religious tolerance and freedom of speech. We must continue to ensure that people feel able to speak about their faith, and that absolutely includes their faith in Christ. We must be mindful of Christians and religious minorities around the world who do not enjoy these same freedoms, but who practise their religion in secret and often in fear. And we must do more to stand up for the freedom of people of all religions to practice their beliefs openly and in peace and safety. So this Easter, whatever our faith, let us come together as a nation confident in our values, and united in our commitment to fulfil the obligations that we have to one another. Let us work together to build that brighter future we want for our country. And let us together build a stronger, fairer Britain that truly does work for everyone. And let me wish you all a very happy Easter."

Re: May's Easter Message.

Having just read Theresa May's Easter speech I get the impression that we are moving in the right direction. It comes direct from the horses mouth, and my faith is one hundred percent behind what the PM is trying to do. I think I prefer Theresa's outlook on our leaving the EU as opposed to Flickers, but in the interest of good British - French relations, I wish Flicker [and indeed the French population] a very Happy Easter......

I don't see it as a 'divorce' either.

I see it more, as you say, as terminating our membership of a club.

When you leave a club, you are not expected to continue to pay membership fees. Neither are you expected to pay compensation.

I am in favour of leaving as soon as possible and, if necessary, without any conditions or agreements.

If they want to trade with us on a mutually beneficial arrangement, yes. If they want to impose penalties, no.

We have traded successfully with countries all over the world for centuries. We can do so again.

It would be to our benefit to continue to trade with Europe too, but it would also benefit them. If they don't want it, OK.

And, yes, I know things will be difficult at first, but I believe that's worth it.

When I get p****** off with something or other I cut ALL ties immediately regardless of the repercussions. If it was left to me we would leave the Eu in about 1 day flat .

I also doubt there is anyone in here who wants a reversal of the result. I personally think the entire situation should never have been allowed. What I am interested in is the process of leaving and the deal that emerges. It will back up my sense that holding a ref was a monumentally stupid thing to do and that govts are there to protect people from their own folly and the machinations of those who would harm them...chiefly the press and politicians who have something to gain. They fill heads with garbage which should never be allowed to contaminate the national interest.
In addition I am sick to the back teeth with Mayhem's constant bleatings about how wonderful and united and successful everything is going to be. She should stop lying and tell the truth.
Hi

The best example yet of why we should leave.

An arrogant denial of democracy in action.

Re: May's Easter Message.

I don't remember anyone asking me to vote on whether to hold a referendum or the terms of that referendum...

We delegated our democracy to Parliament then and so should we now.

We delegate democracy to parliament unless it means a change to our constitution (allegedly).

We were taken in to the EU without being asked. Governments of both colours signed the Maastricht and Lisbon treaties (both constitutional changes) without the required referendums so it could be argued that coming out of the EU constitutes a treaty change and this time, the required referendum took place.
