Re: Will this make it easier to see GP?

So you have to go to the surgery anyway to look at the list, go home and then ring on the day? crazy

I can just imagine the scene, the patient looks at the list, approaches reception, the receptionist holds up her hand, "Be off with you! Cheating will not be tolerated!" Huge intake of breath from patients waiting as "someone tries to jump the queue and doesn't even look ill!"

Our local surgery sends out text messages to confirm the visit when you have made an appointment and then another text as a reminder the day before. They've had to adopt this system because of the missed appointments.

Re: Will this make it easier to see GP?

We get confirming phone messages from the surgery, the dentist and hospital appoinments. Reminder messages for the Optician and Audiologist are always by letter. I always write any appointments on a calendar in the kitchen so I won't forget them

Doesnt seem to make any sense to me,if Dr can ring you back within an hour when are they seeing patients ?
We dont have too much trouble seeing a Dr as our Drs have two surgeries, but if you want to see a specific Dr you may have to wait weeks

Yes, that's quite common now, in fact my hearing aid person sends TWO reminders the day before.

Perhaps she thinks I'm a forgetful old git.

If we ask to speak to the doctor, we are told that Dr so and so will ring you back after his surgery finishes ..... and he has always done this.
