Cutting cheese

I'm sure it happens to all of us. There we are making a nice cheese sandwich but when attempting to cut some thin slices of cheese, we end up with a load of crumbs or it sticks to knife then crumbles when we try to remove it. I have tried turning the cheese by 90 degs which sometimes helps but then the slices are normally too long or too short.

Apart from grating it, any tips?

Use VERY sharp knife and slice in a forward motion.

I have very sharp knives but not sure if I have ever tried a forward motion. I will give that a go.

Hi

Yes, get one of these.

I let the littlies use one at mine, absolutely foolproof.

They love using knives at mine because not allowed at home.

Also love coming fishing with me, I let them use catapults.

Interesting we used one provided on a holiday in Scotland by a Dutch couple ! That was 30 years ago and we've had one ever since.

Re: Cutting cheese

I've got a weird device. It has a flat piece of plastic, a bit like a ruler with a cheese wire on each side, it's like a knife with cheese wire instead of metal, different thicknesses, it's very good. I can't remember where I bought it. I'll try to put a photo on later when on my laptop

We've used one for the last twenty years or so, great little gadget.
