developing old film

How old can a film roll be and still be successfully developed?
OH came back from London with serveal rolls of film that his sister had had in her cupboard,
He has no idea whats on them and wonders if its worth trying to get them developed.

I dont even know what type of film it is not 110, and not 35mm but some sort of cassette type thing.

Is it even worth going to a photography shop to ask?

Could you post a photo of them on here - I'm sure that someone can help you.

Re: developing old film

Just an update, the films there were the casste types and some rolls.

The photographer is back from holiday and OH took the rolls in this morning.
The cost is €10.95 each but he says he cannot guarantee they will all come out.
He is very interested though and says he hasnt seen the cassette type for at least 30 years and the rolls he thinks are 1940's or 50's

Should be done by next week so I will let you know what comes out.
