A late friend had the GW. He was a pro snapper and one afternoon we went south to the lighthouse near Niton (I carried his thumping great tripod) and he took some cracking shots - printed them on 16x20 inches paper.
His only mistake was at the beginning - he bought two lenses and the body from Jessops, and non of the staff knew the square root of damn all about the product or photography......
Your friend's camera must have been the earlier G690. Mine and all subsequent versions were fixed lens. Mine is a 90mm F4 - that's like 39mm F/1.8 on a 35mm camera.
Here are three of mine, Voigtlander in the middle, I know they need a clean but, I like old things to look old, not shiny, they're not being used except as ornaments so it doesn't really matter that they're "Shabby Chic".
