Ring Pull Cans

Love 'em or loathe 'em?

I find some work and some don't.
It makes me mad when the bloomin' ring comes off in my hand before I even start.
I also frequently find that the lid starts off quite well, but then there is a bit about half an inch big, right at the end that refuses to undo, and determined to remain intact!

How do you find them - do you like them or do you prefer to use a tin opener?

Tin opener, I haven't got arthritic hands & I find them nigh on impossible to open, specially the sardine & fruit cans. People with arthritus must hate them.

Re: Ring Pull Cans

I use the handle of a fork usually to lever them off, so much easier on the fingers.
What annoys me is Heinz smallest baked beans have to be opened with a tin opener, the larger ones are too big for one person and the snap pots don't taste the same!
If the ring pull comes off, a hammer and chisel or flinging against the walls of the kitchen sometimes helps to get rid of frustration, doesn't open the can though

Have a look on Amazon there is a plastic gadget to open them, works really well Culinaire make it £4.99 I see you can get cheaper ones but I've only used that one so can't say if get work.
It's been invaluable I've had it about ten years and it's never broken or worn.

I don't have anything with them on only tinned fish and I use a can opener when they break.

I wonder how folks with Tinnitus get on with them.

I find them hard to pull because I have arthritic fingers.

Re: Ring Pull Cans

They are rubbish now. You can't pull them off and flick them any more.
